Mika - Founder/Director of Beauty, Makeup Artist, Esthetician

Meet Mika - Known in the makeup & beauty world as “MikaDoesMakeup” she first developed her makeup skills at Blanche Macdonald Centre for Applied Design in 2001. She then went back for more in 2005 to learn everything about Esthetics. She worked in a Spa in Pitt Meadows doing makeup and esthetics (mainly pedicure, manicures, waxing and eyelash extensions) for 3 years before venturing out to her beloved city of Vancouver. Mika then founded The Studio by MikaDoesMakeup with her silent partner in 2010, and built up the business from only 1 beauty team member to now a team of 11! Mika is mainly working the back end of The Studio spectrum from marketing to managing, although she is still taking clients and her most popular service is of course, Bridal Makeup.

Yana - Master Nail Tech

Meet Yana – Yana studied Nail artistry in Russia, then moved to Vancouver and worked at a Nail Salon in Coal Harbour for a couple of years before Mika got a chance to meet with her. She was the first member to join The Studio Beauty Team with Mika and they have built a very close bond since. Yana can speak Russian, Italian and English and her attention to detail has gained her many loyal nail clients. Her most popular service is Gel Nail Extensions.

Katrina - Esthetician, Eyelash Extension Master

Meet Katrina – Our newest Esthetician to join The Studio Beauty Team, Katrina received her Body Spa Esthetics training at John Casablancas school in 2010. She jumped right in to the work field after graduation and gained experience at a busy Coquitlam spa until she joined The Studio by MikaDoesMakeup in August 2012. Her most popular service is eyelash extensions, though she also excels in other services such as waxing, facials, massage, nails and tinting. Besides esthetics, Katrina’s other passion is snowboarding… born and raised in the Lower Mainland, you might see her slaying the slopes at one of the local mountains!

Joanna - Eyelash Extension Master, Makeup & Hair Artist

Meet Joanna – Joanna is originally from Saskatoon and moved here at a young age in 2008 to attend Blanche Macdonald for the makeup program. After she graduated in 2009, she worked in a few prestigious beauty counters for 2 years before she started changing the world with her eyelash extensions. Joanna did eyelash extensions full time for 2 years before joining The Studio Beauty Team and has been quickly building her clientele ever since. Joanna also does wardrobe styling, hair and makeup mainly for headshots or editorial, as well as eyelash extensions.

Kym - Makeup Artist, Massage & Facial Guru

Meet Kym - Kym has been with The Studio since June 2011. She attended Blanche Macdonald back in 2000 and specializes in Makeup. When she is not booked with makeup she is pampering her clients with soothing massages and facials, lash extensions, mani’s and pedi’s, waxing and brow/lash tinting. Kym takes the time and effort to make every client, no matter what their needs are, to feel special and pampered when they come visit her at The Studio by Mika Does Makeup.

Faye - Mobile Makeup & Hair Artist

Meet Faye – Faye began her training back in 2007 at Cannock Technical College in Jolly Ol’ England. She got a chance to work with her teacher on Birmingham Opera sets to really get a feel of what to expect in the makeup field. Faye felt there was so much more to learn so she looked up schools and found Blanche Macdonald online and decided to take the plunge and move to Vancouver at her young age. She graduated in 2010, and jumped in to the work force right away doing freelance hair and makeup, covering all areas from beauty and bridal to fashion and commercial. By the end of that year, Faye had met Mika and joined The Studio Beauty Team where the 2 became good friends and hard working co-workers over the years. Faye loves her job, her clients and the people she works with. She speaks both British and Canadian

Jewlee - Mobile and In House Makeup & Hair Artist

Meet Jewlee – Jewlee studied at The John Casablancas Institute for makeup artistry and hair art design in 2011. She is originally from the Tsuu T’ina Nation which is beside Calgary and has been in Vancouver now for almost 2 years. Jewlee travels back and forth working on film sets, which is one of her favourite parts of her job. She also loves doing more fashion forward makeup and hair as well as working on photoshoots. Working in the fashion industry for over 7 years now, she has become quite adept and very much enjoys using all 3 of her talents to help her clients coordinate their makeup and hair to their chosen outfits. When Jewlee is not doing makeup or hair, she is spending time with her friends and exploring this beautiful city or volunteering to help with animal care.

Mary - Mobile Makeup & Hair Artist

Meet Mary – Mary is a part of our Mobile Makeup & Hair Team, in the Surrey sector although she often makes it to all parts of the lower mainland including in house jobs at The Studio. She was self taught at an early age as she experimented on everyone from family to friends… In 2009, Mary started freelancing Makeup and Hair for special events, brides, and graduations… and in 2010, enrolled in VCC for the Makeup Artistry Program to get some further education. Mary’s extra attention to detail has gained credit in the Beauty Industry, as well as her clients’ trust and loyalty over the years. Mary speaks Cambodian and English.

Victoria - Mobile Makeup & Hair Artist

Meet Victoria – Victoria always had a love for makeup so she decided to take the course at VCC just for her self interest. Once she started getting hired for bridal work while in school, her interest became passion and decided it was time to take the entire professional makeup artist program. Even though she graduated in 2011, Victoria started taking clients well before graduating, giving her 2 years of hair and makeup experience.  She then met Mika in the beginning of Bridal Season this year and has worked with The Studio Beauty Team ever since, doing mainly mobile hair and makeup. Victoria is originally from Hong Kong and can of course speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
