| "Mika did my makeup for my engagement photoshoot and for my wedding. Both times she did a fantastic job. She listened to what I wanted during the trial sessions and executed it beautifully. It turned out exactly as I wanted. For my wedding, my bridesmaids and I all got ready at The Studio. We had a lot of fun and the location was great because the ceremony was downtown. Some of my favorite pictures the photographer took were the ones of us getting ready at The Studio because the decor is so beautiful. I also got eyelash extensions done at The Studio for the wedding. | "Mika did my bridal makeup on my wedding day and she was wonderful to work with! I went for a trial in January 2011 and Mika executed my vision perfectly while giving some great advice. I booked her for my wedding the very next day. Mika and Faye arrived early to set up on the wedding day and were super responsive to any suggestions we gave them while doing our makeup. Me and my bridesmaids' makeup turned out wonderfully and lasted until the party was over. Mika and Faye were a dream to work with as we were finalizing all our plans for the big day. When I went in she was getting her nails or something like that done, sitting on a chair and talking to other people. As soon as I went in, she assisted me and was very helpful and friendly. The place is very clean and so sweet, I love it! It's like hanging out at someone's place so the atmosphere is not at all intimidating like what I expected. | "I made a call on Wednesday morning at 10:30am and managed to get an appointment 2 hours later at 12:30pm. I love how they're so flexible with their scheduling! I'm generally an impulsive person so I love being able to make last minute appointments. Anyways, I came here to get eyelash extensions and Joanna was the one helping me. I showed her some pictures of the effect I wanted and it really was impressive how she could tell what kind of lashes the girls in the pictures were wearing! Before we started the process, Joanna told me what my lashes would look like when we were done (turns out she was pretty accurate too!). Throughout the process, we kept a pleasant two sided conversation. It took about an hour and when I opened my eyes in the end, I loved what I saw! I had voluptuous and full lashes and they looked beautiful!! I just wished they would curl a little higher, but I guess I'm just cursed with Asian lashes. For the next 24 hours, I didn't get my lashes wet, or do any physical activity that would make me sweat. I also made a conscious effort to keep hair out of my eyes. It's been approximately two days since I got my lashes done, and I have spent a total of 4 hours in the dance studio, and 2 hours in a hot yoga class. I don't think a lash has actually fallen off yet...and having these extensions takes off an easy 10 minutes from my morning routine. It's just so convenient!" Christie T. |
| "What a fantastic experience! I bought a deal from http://SocialShopper.com a couple of months back for "Full Face Makeup or Bridal Trial" at The Studio. As soon as I saw it I scooped it right up because I was getting some professional photos done and man am I happy I did! I called The Studio and explained that my shoot was at 10am on a Sunday which meant that I had to have my hair and makeup done by 9:30am, Mika immediately told me it wouldn't be a problem and also mentioned she had a friend who could do my hair for a reasonable price. They both agreed to come in EXTRA early on a Sunday morning just to accomodate me. I was really impressed with their dedication. Not sure what I would have done without them! A few weeks later I showed up bright eyed and bushy tailed at The Studio on Hornby St and walked in. The Studio reminds me of backstage at a professional theatre or the glamourous powder room of a movie star. The room is very comfortable with perfect lighting and lots of fun knick knacks. The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxing and so inviting. I could have moved right in if they'd let me! Even from the street The Studio looks like a warm and inviting home. You immediately gravitate towards the window. I was there at 8am on Sunday morning (the morning after the time change so really it was 7am!!) and there was Mika's friend, Faye, to do my hair. We chatted comfortably and she asked me what I was looking for with my hair and quickly whipped up the perfect style. I asked for lots of curl and volume and to lay on the hairspray as my shoot was outside in the pouring rain. She styled it perfectly so that even if I got rained out, my hair would still look wonderful. I can tell you that it got pretty soggy out there but, true to her word, my hair was perfect! At around 8:30am Mika came down to start doing my makeup. She listened to my preferences and worked like a true professional. I looked like I had a brand new face! I told her I really wanted my eyes to pop and did they ever! She even touched up my chipped nail polish and fixed my eyelash extensions. She truly is a professional and wants everyone leaving her studio to look their best. I'd never had my makeup done professionally before and it was an intimidating experience in my head but as soon as I entered the studio I was calm. The atmosphere is so comfortable that you cannot help but relax. The Studio does everything from eye lash extensions to spray tanning, from Mani/Pedis to Waxing and massage. Being from Vancouver I am so used to the flourescent lighting in those express nail bars that you find popping up on every corner. You are rushed in and rushed out with no conversation (except when listening to the employees chatter at each other) and a huge language barrier between you and the technician while she asks you if you want your nails rounded or square. Those places can be stress inducing and I find it very difficult to relax. The Studio is completely the opposite. It's more like hanging out with some girlfriends who are doing their best to make you look awesome! Make sure you come in a check it all out. You'll be happy you did." Folland O. |
